These bans are typically issued by community moderators who review reports of rule-breaking behavior, such as cheating, harassment, or spamming.

Bans can happen at different levels. Individual bans restrict access to specific games or communities, while permanent bans permanently prohibit a player from accessing Steam entirely. Understanding the reasons behind a ban is crucial for avoiding future violations.

  • Typical offenses that lead to bans include cheating in online games, using offensive language or threats towards other players, and sharing copyrighted material without permission.
  • Steam provides rules outlining acceptable conduct on its platform. Players are expected to familiarize themselves with these guidelines and adhere to them to avoid facing bans.

If you believe you have been banned unfairly, Steam offers a system for appealing the decision. It's important to provide clear and concise evidence to support your appeal and demonstrate that the ban was unwarranted.
